There’s been a lot of discussion lately about what type of ownership well-known real people should have about movies that are being made about them. Most recently, this happened when Vili Fualaau vocally objected to his lack of involvement with May December, Todd Haynes’ acclaimed film that was loosely based on his and Mary Kay Letourneau's story.
In May December’s case, it was imprecise, especially because the film did not use real names, and also because the film’s main plot — an actress, working on a film, visits the couple after they have been married for years — is fictitious.
