As you may have heard, a big corporate battle is going on, with activist investors seeking to influence the corporate governance of The Walt Disney Company.
It might be familiar to fans of Succession, or more specifically, the great Hollywood book DisneyWar, as there’s a big board vote coming up, and different investors are taking different sides.
It’s a long, complicated story, but activist investor Nelson Peltz’s Trian Partners is pushing to add Peltz to Disney’s board. Peltz’s grievances include the company’s financial underperformance in recent years, Disney’s botched succession four years ago that led to Bob Iger replacing Bob Chapek, and uncertainty about who will succeed Iger whenever he retires for good.
