I never actually considered that but it's a good point. If they made that 40 years ago there would have almost certainly been sex and heavy synths accompanying the scene in which the sex took place. There were definitely parallel lanes in those old comedies between gratuitious ancillary nudity usually involving non-named or secondary characters and sex scenes which consummated some element of the story. No Hard Feeling's nude scene was almost played more for shock value a la Ken Jong in The Hangover (which also had a Heather Graham shock value nude scene). That seems to be the nudity play in R rated comedies these days. Male genitalia in Walk Hard and Popstar comes to mind. It's less "Here are some boobs for the audience, tee hee" and more "How crazy is this?"
In a similar vein, Jennifer Lawrence's nude scene in No Hard Feelings felt like a fun throw back to the nudity of adult R-rate comedies of my youth
That movie was interesting becasue while it was a "sex comedy," no one actually has sex in it.
